The Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory executed Project Metropolis II ,a Dense Urban Operations limited operational experiment 2019 (DUO19) at Muscatatuck Urban Training Center (MUTC), Indiana. The event aimed to effectively combine robotics, sensors, manned/unmanned vehicles, and dismounted Marines with a focus on improving Marines' ability to sense and locate the threat, observing their speed of decision making and speed of action, and determining their lethality when employing traditional and surrogate equipment versus an enemy force in a dense urban environment. This experiment took Marines assigned to 3rd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, a squad-sized element from 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, and British Royal Marines assigned to 8 Troop Charlie Company, 40 Commando Royal Marines. The U.S. Marines and Royal Marine Commandos were divided into 'red' force and 'blue' force and engaged each other in a live force-on-force, free-play battle within a dense urban setting.

Autonomous Aerial Cargo Utility System (AACUS) provides a material resupply for Marines assigned to Combat Logistics Battalion 8, based at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, NC during the Marine Corps Warfighting Lab Expeditionary Hybrid Logistics experiment conducted in conjunction with Integrated Training Exercise 3-18 at Marine Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, CA, May 14, 2018. During this experiment, AACUS successfully conducted multiple resupply missions of varying distance and payload, and received fuel from a forward aerial refuel point (FARP). Both events were firsts for the program.

Levi Johnson, an intelligence specialist with Headquarters Battery, 1st Battalion, 12th Marine Regiment, and a 20-year-old native of Springdale, Ark., launches the Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Raven drone to provide overwatch of friendly and enemy forces in the area at Marine Corps Training Area Bellows, July 12, 2014. The UAS is a lightweight drone that can fly at a range of five-to-ten kilometers and stay in the air for up 90 minutes. The UAS is part of the Marine Corps Advanced Warfighting Experiment, a culmination of progressive experiments designed to test potential future technologies, solutions and concepts to future Marine Air Ground Task Force challenges being led by the Marine Corps Warfighting Lab (MCWL). Marines assigned to Kilo Company, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment conduct exercise operations in Polaris Defense MRZR-D's during an Integrated Training Exercise at the Marine Corps Air-Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, California. This is a training event within their predeployment training curriculum. The Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory provided some different unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) and unmanned ground systems (UGS)  for the Marines to employ during their training cycle.
