U.S. Marines with Marine Corps Advisor Company-A (MCAC-A) participate in the Infantry Marksmanship Assessment, a component of the Joint Marksmanship Assessment Package, at Marine Corps Base Quantico, Va., May 16, 2025. A Stern Landing Vessel, a modified oil-rig industry off-shore support vessel, prepares to drop its ramp onto the beach in order to load cargo as part of Project Convergence Capstone 4, Feb. 22, 2024 at the Del Mar Boat Basin, Camp Pendleton, CA. The Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory contracted the SLV to experiment with maneuver and sustainment options for Stand-In Forces to inform the development of the Medium Landing Ship (LSM). PC-C4 is an Army-hosted, all-Service and multinational experiment. During PC-C4, the Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory tested new technologies and capabilities and emerging concepts, including the multi-domain corridor. Marine Corps participation in PC-C4 supported Force Design initiatives, integrated Joint force and coalition capabilities into experimentation, and demonstrated the Marine Corps' commitment to the Joint Warfighting Concept. NICE ANTX provides government and industry participants a collaborative, low-risk environment that leverages the NR&DE’s unique laboratories and ranges, while practicing operators and planners simultaneously explore advanced tactics and assess the operational relevance of emerging technologies.

 Advanced Naval Technology Exercises are a series of exercises led by the NR&DE where industry, academia, and Government R&D organizations are invited to demonstrate emerging technologies and engineering innovations that address priority Navy and Marine Corps missions.

The Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory executed Project Metropolis II ,a Dense Urban Operations limited operational experiment 2019 (DUO19) at Muscatatuck Urban Training Center (MUTC), Indiana. The event aimed to effectively combine robotics, sensors, manned/unmanned vehicles, and dismounted Marines with a focus on improving Marines' ability to sense and locate the threat, observing their speed of decision making and speed of action, and determining their lethality when employing traditional and surrogate equipment versus an enemy force in a dense urban environment. This experiment took Marines assigned to 3rd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, a squad-sized element from 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, and British Royal Marines assigned to 8 Troop Charlie Company, 40 Commando Royal Marines. The U.S. Marines and Royal Marine Commandos were divided into 'red' force and 'blue' force and engaged each other in a live force-on-force, free-play battle within a dense urban setting.
