1.            Welcome to the United States Marine Corps (“Marine Corps” or “USMC”) Innovation Challenge Program Website (“Challenge Site”) Privacy & Security Policy (“Policy”) that is located within a controlled environment inside the MD5.net public website (which has a separate MD5.net Privacy Policy). In the event that there is a conflict between this Policy and the MD5.net Privacy Policy, this Policy shall control.  If you are looking for the official source of information about the United States Marine Corps, please visit http://www.marines.mil/ , or, if you are looking for the official source of information about United States Marine Corps recruiting, please visit http://www.marines.com/home .  This is a Challenge Site sponsored by   the United States Marine Corps.

2.            Unless otherwise indicated, information presented by the Marine Corps on this Challenge Site is considered public information and may be distributed or copied. Use of appropriate byline/photo/image credit is requested, and requests to obtain such credit information shall be made to the Marine Corps Innovation Challenges Program Project Officer at the following address: Warfighting.challenge@usmc.mil .

3.            Unauthorized attempts to upload, access, or change information on this Challenge Site are strictly prohibited and may be punishable under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act of 1987 and the National Information Infrastructure Protection Act (18 U.S.C. §1030).

5.            Privacy Policy: At the Challenge Site, we, the Marine Corps (“we”, “us”, “our”), take your privacy very seriously. This privacy policy (“Privacy Policy”) explains how we intend to use any information you provide to us through the Challenge Site. By using or accessing the Challenge Site, you signify your express consent to our Privacy Policy. Moreover, if you do not agree to create an account using your email address, you may not enjoy the full functionality of the Challenge Site.

6.            Pursuant to [Section 503 of Title 10], United States Code, the information requested on this Challenge Site will only be used for enhanced features on our site, such as bookmarks, favorites, or sharing content. Disclosure is voluntary, although declining to provide information will prevent users from accessing these enhanced features.

7.            Protection for Children:

This Challenge Site is not intended for, and we have no intention of collecting personally identifiable information from, children under the age of 13. 8.            Non-Personally Identifiable Information:

For management of the Challenge Site, certain non-personally identifiable pieces of information (“Non-PII Data”) is collected by us, through the standard operation of our web servers and through the use of “cookies” (described more fully below). This Non-PII Data will be used for statistical purposes, including, without limitation, for analytics. This Challenge Site uses software programs to create summary statistics, which are used for such purposes as assessing what information is of most and least interest to the Challenge Site visitors, determining optimal technical design specifications, and identifying system performance or problem areas so that we can work on improving such areas of the Challenge Site.
